Description

Learn how to make delicious Crispy Honey Garlic Tofu at home with this easy recipe. Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside – a perfect vegetarian dish!


Ingredients

  • – 16 oz (450g) firm or extra firm tofu, drained and cut into 1” cubes
  • – 1 teaspoon (5 ml) kosher salt
  • – 1/2 teaspoon black pepper, 1g
  • – 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) garlic powder
  • – ¼ cup (30g) cornstarch
  • – Vegetable oil
  • – 1 tablespoon (15ml) vegetable oil
  • – 10 cloves garlic, minced
  • – 2 tablespoons (30ml) honey
  • – 1 tablespoon (15ml) gochujang
  • – 2 tablespoons (26g) brown sugar
  • – 3 tablespoons (45ml) soy sauce, low sodium
  • – ¼ cup (60ml) hot water


Instructions

  1. Dry the tofu cubes using a paper towel to eliminate extra moisture. Place them in a bowl and sprinkle with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Dust with cornstarch and toss the cubes until they are completely covered.
  2. Heat ½ cup of vegetable oil in a wok or skillet over medium-high heat. Arrange the tofu in a single layer and cook for 2-3 minutes, turning occasionally to ensure all sides become crispy. Repeat with remaining tofu and place on a wire rack to drain.
  3. In another pan, warm 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Cook the minced garlic for 30 seconds, then stir in honey, gochujang, brown sugar, soy sauce, and hot water. Stir the mixture until it begins to simmer and thickens enough to coat the back of a spoon.
  4. Introduce the tofu cubes to the pan, stirring to evenly coat them with the sauce. Add garnishes like scallions and sesame seeds before serving. Enjoy!
