Ingredients

  • 1 stick unsalted butter (8 tablespoons (120 ml), softened)
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) beef-friendly spicy brown mustard (Dijon can be used)
  • Juice from 1/2 a lemon + zest
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) chopped fresh chives
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) chopped fresh thyme
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) cayenne
  • 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) crushed red pepper flakes (or use hot sauce, or both!)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Warm the butter in a pan on low heat.
  2. Gradually mix in the rest of the ingredients until everything is thoroughly blended.
  3. Use it as a dipping sauce or drizzle over your food.
  4. Combine all the components in a small bowl, then place the mixture onto a sheet of plastic wrap.
  5. Shape the mixture into a log about 1 inch thick, then wrap it in the plastic.
  6. Chill in the refrigerator until it solidifies, then cut into slices and serve atop grilled meats or vegetables.

Notes

  • For a more subtle flavor, reduce the amount of cayenne and crushed red pepper flakes. Adjust salt and black pepper to your liking. Experiment with herbs like rosemary or cilantro for a unique taste.
