Description
These cookies, reminiscent of the iconic Levain Bakery, are big, gooey, and packed with rich chocolate and crunchy walnuts. Perfect for sharing or indulging solo.
Ingredients
- 2 sticks unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups chocolate chips
- 1 cup walnuts, chopped
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and white sugar until smooth.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
- Combine flour, baking soda, and salt in another bowl. Gradually blend this into the creamed mixture.
- Fold in chocolate chips and walnuts.
- Scoop large mounds of dough onto ungreased baking sheets, spacing them far apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.
- Let them cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks.
Notes
For a variation, try using a mix of semi-sweet and dark chocolate chips. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet before transferring to maintain texture.
