Description

These cookies, reminiscent of the iconic Levain Bakery, are big, gooey, and packed with rich chocolate and crunchy walnuts. Perfect for sharing or indulging solo.


Ingredients

  • 2 sticks unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups chocolate chips
  • 1 cup walnuts, chopped


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and white sugar until smooth.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
  4. Combine flour, baking soda, and salt in another bowl. Gradually blend this into the creamed mixture.
  5. Fold in chocolate chips and walnuts.
  6. Scoop large mounds of dough onto ungreased baking sheets, spacing them far apart.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. Let them cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks.

Notes

For a variation, try using a mix of semi-sweet and dark chocolate chips. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet before transferring to maintain texture.
