A simple yet delicious overnight French toast bake that fills your home with the warm aroma of cinnamon.
Ingredients
- 1 loaf of bread (preferably brioche or challah)
- 6 large eggs
- 2 cups milk
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Butter (for greasing the baking dish)
- Maple syrup (for serving)
Instructions
- Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with butter.
- Cut the bread into cubes and place it evenly in the dish.
- Whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, brown sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
- Pour the egg mixture over the bread cubes, ensuring all pieces are soaked.
- Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) in the morning.
- Remove the plastic wrap and bake for 45-55 minutes until the top is golden and set.
- Let it cool for a few minutes, then serve warm with maple syrup.
Notes
For extra crunch, consider adding chopped nuts or a streusel topping before baking. Fresh fruits like blueberries or sliced bananas can also enhance the flavor.
