Ingredients
- 1 lb beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced
- 1 large yellow onion, sliced
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
Instructions
- Slice the beef against the grain into thin strips and prepare the onion and garlic.
- In a bowl, mix sliced beef with soy sauce, oyster sauce, sugar, and cornstarch. Let marinate for about 10 minutes.
- Heat vegetable oil in a wok over medium-high heat. Add onions and stir-fry until soft and caramelized, about 5–7 minutes.
- Push onions to one side of the wok. Add sesame oil and garlic to the empty space and sauté briefly.
- Add the marinated beef to the wok and cook until browned, about 3–5 minutes.
- Mix all ingredients in the wok for an additional minute before serving hot over rice or noodles.
Notes
For added depth, consider including vegetables such as bell peppers or broccoli. Use a cast-iron wok for optimal heat retention.
