Description

Delightful chewy oatmeal cookies with a soft texture and slightly crisp edges, perfect for family gatherings or cozy afternoons.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup raisins or chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar.
  3. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.
  4. In another bowl, mix together the rolled oats, flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients until well combined.
  6. Fold in raisins or chocolate chips if using.
  7. Drop spoonfuls of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden.
  9. Allow to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Consider adding spices or variations like nuts or dried fruit for unique flavors. Chilling the dough before baking can enhance texture.
