Description

Delicious cheesy thumbprint appetizers topped with spicy hot pepper jelly, perfect for gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder (optional)
  • 1/3 cup hot pepper jelly
  • Fresh thyme leaves or chopped parsley for garnish (optional)


Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, beat together the cream cheese and butter until smooth.
  2. Mix in the shredded cheddar cheese until fully combined.
  3. Add flour, salt, and garlic powder; mix until dough forms.
  4. Wrap and chill the dough for 30 minutes.
  5. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  6. Roll the chilled dough into 1-inch balls and place them on the sheet, spacing 2 inches apart.
  7. Press a thumbprint into the center of each ball.
  8. Fill each indentation with 1/2 tsp of hot pepper jelly.
  9. Bake for 13–15 minutes or until golden.
  10. Cool slightly, garnish with fresh herbs, and serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

Use room temperature ingredients for a smoother dough. Experiment with different types of jellies for varied flavors.
