Description

A comforting dish featuring tender ribeye steak and perfectly cooked Chow Mein noodles, all coated in a flavorful black pepper sauce.

Ingredients

  • Chow Mein noodles – 200g
  • Ribeye steak, thinly sliced – 225g
  • Vegetable oil – 1 tbsp
  • Butter – 1 tbsp
  • Onion, thinly sliced – ½
  • Garlic, minced – 4 cloves
  • Ginger, minced – 1 tsp
  • Spring onion, sliced (for garnish)
  • Chicken stock – ¼ cup
  • Light soy sauce – 1 tbsp
  • Oyster sauce – 1 tbsp
  • Dark soy sauce – 1 tbsp
  • Sugar – 1 tsp
  • Soybean oil – 2 tsp
  • Coarsely ground black pepper – 1 tsp
  • Cornstarch – 1 tsp
  • Sesame seeds (for garnish)
  • Green onion (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Chow Mein noodles according to the package instructions. Soak them in hot water until almost tender, then drain and rinse under cold water to stop the cooking process.
  2. In a bowl, mix the black pepper sauce ingredients together: chicken stock, light soy sauce, oyster sauce, dark soy sauce, sugar, soybean oil, coarsely ground black pepper, and cornstarch. Stir well to combine and set aside.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add the thinly sliced ribeye steak and stir-fry until it reaches about 80% doneness, then set it aside.
  4. In the same pan, melt butter. Add the sliced onion, minced garlic, ginger, and the white part of the spring onions. Stir-fry until fragrant.
  5. Add the cooked noodles to the pan and pour in the black pepper sauce. Toss well to combine.
  6. Return the beef to the pan, add the green parts of the spring onions, and stir-fry for an additional 1-2 minutes.
  7. Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions before serving.

Notes

Customize your chow mein by adding vegetables like bell peppers or carrots for added color and nutrition.
