Description

A delightful twist on breakfast, this pizza combines savory sausage gravy, scrambled eggs, and melted cheese on a crispy crust, evoking cherished memories.

Ingredients

  • 1 package (16 oz) breakfast sausage
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • Ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tbsp olive oil (optional)
  • 1 pre-baked pizza crust (12-inch)
  • Cooking spray
  • 6 eggs
  • ¼ cup milk (for the eggs)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or more, if desired)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the sausage gravy: Cook the breakfast sausage in a skillet over medium heat. Break it up with a spatula until browned. Drain any excess grease if necessary. Sprinkle the flour over the sausage, stirring to combine. Gradually add 2 cups of milk, stirring continuously until thickened. Season with ground black pepper to taste and set aside.
  2. Set up the pizza base: Preheat your oven to 400°F. Place the pre-baked pizza crust on a baking sheet. Optionally, brush with olive oil to add a layer of flavor. Spread half of the sausage gravy over the crust.
  3. Cook the eggs: Scramble the eggs with ¼ cup milk in a skillet over medium-high heat until just set. Remove from heat.
  4. Assemble the pizza: Spoon the scrambled eggs over the gravy on the pizza crust. Then, sprinkle with shredded cheddar cheese.
  5. Bake the pizza: Bake in the preheated oven for 10-15 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  6. Serve: Allow to cool slightly, slice, and serve warm.

Notes

Consider adding fresh herbs for added flavor and color. Let the pizza rest for a few minutes after baking to make slicing easier.
