Description

A tender and savory slow-cooked round steak recipe that creates bonds and traditions around the dinner table.

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs round steak
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
  • Chopped parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Season the round steak with salt and pepper.
  2. In a skillet over medium-high heat, sear the steak on both sides until browned.
  3. Transfer the steak to a slow cooker.
  4. Add the chopped onion, garlic, mushrooms, beef broth, soy sauce, and Worcestershire sauce.
  5. Cover and cook on low for 7-8 hours or until the beef is tender.
  6. If desired, mix cornstarch with a little water and stir into the gravy to thicken during the last 30 minutes.
  7. Serve hot, garnished with chopped parsley.

Notes

For a thicker gravy, add cornstarch mixed with water in the last half hour of cooking. Consider using fresh herbs for added flavor.
