A tender and savory slow-cooked round steak recipe that creates bonds and traditions around the dinner table.
Ingredients
- 2 lbs round steak
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
- Chopped parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Season the round steak with salt and pepper.
- In a skillet over medium-high heat, sear the steak on both sides until browned.
- Transfer the steak to a slow cooker.
- Add the chopped onion, garlic, mushrooms, beef broth, soy sauce, and Worcestershire sauce.
- Cover and cook on low for 7-8 hours or until the beef is tender.
- If desired, mix cornstarch with a little water and stir into the gravy to thicken during the last 30 minutes.
- Serve hot, garnished with chopped parsley.
Notes
For a thicker gravy, add cornstarch mixed with water in the last half hour of cooking. Consider using fresh herbs for added flavor.
