A delightful berry French toast casserole bake that combines warm berries, sweet spices, and rich bread for a memorable breakfast.
Ingredients
- 1 loaf of bread (challah or brioche recommended)
- 6 large eggs
- 2 cups milk
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 2 cups mixed berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries)
- Butter (for greasing)
Instructions
- Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with butter.
- Tear the bread into bite-sized pieces and place half in the baking dish.
- Layer the mixed berries over the bread.
- Top with remaining bread pieces.
- Whisk together eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla extract, and cinnamon in a bowl.
- Pour the egg mixture evenly over the bread and berries.
- Cover and refrigerate overnight.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) in the morning.
- Remove the casserole from the refrigerator and let it sit for about 30 minutes to come to room temperature.
- Bake for 45-55 minutes until golden and set.
- Let cool for a few minutes before serving.

Consider adding a sprinkle of powdered sugar before serving for extra sweetness.
