Description

A delightful berry French toast casserole bake that combines warm berries, sweet spices, and rich bread for a memorable breakfast.


Ingredients

  • 1 loaf of bread (challah or brioche recommended)
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 cups mixed berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries)
  • Butter (for greasing)


Instructions

  1. Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with butter.
  2. Tear the bread into bite-sized pieces and place half in the baking dish.
  3. Layer the mixed berries over the bread.
  4. Top with remaining bread pieces.
  5. Whisk together eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla extract, and cinnamon in a bowl.
  6. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the bread and berries.
  7. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
  8. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) in the morning.
  9. Remove the casserole from the refrigerator and let it sit for about 30 minutes to come to room temperature.
  10. Bake for 45-55 minutes until golden and set.
  11. Let cool for a few minutes before serving.

Consider adding a sprinkle of powdered sugar before serving for extra sweetness.
