Description

Delicious beef and cheese empanadas featuring a flaky crust filled with savory beef and melted cheese, perfect for family gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon chili powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 package (14 oz) refrigerated pie crusts
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  3. Sauté the onion until soft, about 3-4 minutes.
  4. Add minced garlic and cook for another minute.
  5. Stir in the ground beef, breaking it up as it cooks.
  6. Season with cumin, paprika, chili powder, salt, and pepper.
  7. Cook until the beef is browned.
  8. Mix in shredded cheddar cheese until melted.
  9. Roll out the pie crusts and cut into 4-inch circles.
  10. Place a spoonful of beef mixture on each circle, fold, and seal.
  11. Brush tops with beaten egg.
  12. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
