Ingredients

  • – 3 (85 g) chicken breasts, boneless and skinless
  • – 1 1/4 cups (300 ml) sweet barbecue sauce
  • – 2 tablespoons (30 ml) Worcestershire sauce
  • – 1/4 cup (60 ml) white vinegar
  • – 3 tablespoons (45 ml) brown sugar
  • – a dash of ground black pepper
  • – 3 (15 cm) sub sandwich bread

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, blend together the sweet barbecue sauce, white vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, and a pinch of ground black pepper. Stir until well combined.
  2. Place the boneless, skinless chicken breasts in a slow cooker and pour the sauce mixture over them.
  3. Cook on a low setting for approximately 5 to 6 hours. After 3 hours, shred the chicken and continue slow cooking. Monitor to ensure the liquid does not dry out.
  4. Distribute the cooked BBQ chicken evenly onto the center of each sub sandwich bread.
  5. Serve. Enjoy and share with others!

Notes

  • For a tangier flavor, increase the amount of white vinegar in the sauce mixture before pouring over the chicken.
  • Enhance the sweetness by adding extra brown sugar over the shredded chicken during the final hour of cooking.
  • Toasting the sub sandwich bread before assembling the BBQ chicken sandwiches can provide a crispy texture and improve overall taste.
