Description

A delightful banana chocolate chip bread made with overripe bananas, rich chocolate chips, and a tender crumb, perfect for snacks or dessert.

Ingredients

  • 4 overripe bananas
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs (room temperature)
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (reserve some for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 9×5 metal loaf pan and set aside.
  2. In a bowl, mash the bananas until smooth and set aside.
  3. Cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar using a hand mixer until fluffy.
  4. Mix in the eggs, mashed bananas, and pure vanilla extract until well combined.
  5. Sift the dry ingredients—flour, baking soda, baking powder, and kosher salt—into the wet ingredients. Fold gently until just combined, taking care not to overmix.
  6. Stir in the chocolate chips, saving a handful to sprinkle on top.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
  8. Bake at 350°F for about 50 minutes. Check for doneness; the loaf is ready when a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Remove it from the oven and let it cool for 20 minutes before serving.

Notes

For added flavor, consider adding a pinch of cinnamon or a handful of nuts. If you have extra bananas, consider making double the recipe and freezing one loaf for later enjoyment.
