Description

A comforting dish of flaky pastry, creamy custard-like eggs, and rich cheese, perfect for brunch or a cozy meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 sheet flaky pastry (such as puff pastry)
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup cheese (such as Gruyère or cheddar), shredded
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste
  • Fresh herbs (such as chives or parsley), for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Roll out the flaky pastry and cut it into squares or circles, placing them in a greased baking dish.
  3. Whisk together eggs, heavy cream, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
  4. Pour the egg mixture over the pastry.
  5. Sprinkle cheese and herbs on top.
  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes until the eggs are set and the pastry is golden brown.
  7. Serve warm.

Notes

For added flavor, experiment with different cheeses or herbs. Spinach or mushrooms can be incorporated, but pre-cook them to reduce moisture.
