Learn how to make delicious baked apples with our easy-to-follow Baked Apples Recipe. Perfect for a sweet treat any time of year!
Ingredients
- 4 large baking apples (such as Rome Beauty, Golden Delicious, or Jonagold)
- 60g brown sugar
- 5g cinnamon
- 30g chopped pecans (optional)
- 30g currants or chopped raisins
- 15g vegetable oil
- 180ml boiling water
Instructions
- Set your oven temperature to 375°F (190°C) to begin preheating.
- Prepare the apples by washing and drying them. Use a paring knife or an apple corer to remove the cores, ensuring you leave the bottom intact. If using a paring knife, remove the top stem section first, then scoop out the seeds with a small spoon. The openings should be roughly an inch wide.
- Combine the brown sugar, cinnamon, currants or chopped raisins, and pecans (if desired) in a small bowl and mix well. Arrange the apples in an oven-safe dish and fill each one with the sugar mixture. Add a small amount of vegetable oil on top of the filling.
- Pour the boiling water into the base of the baking dish and place it in the oven. Cook at 375°F (190°C) for 30 to 45 minutes, ensuring the apples are tender but not overly soft. Once cooked, take the apples out of the oven and spoon the pan juices over them. They pair wonderfully with vanilla ice cream. We would love to hear your thoughts on this recipe!
Notes
- Consider using honey or maple syrup instead of brown sugar for a healthier option.
- Experiment with walnuts or almonds for added crunch and flavor.
- Enhance the apple flavor by adding a splash of apple cider or apple juice before baking.
