Ingredients
- 3 slices Beef Bacon (diced)
- 1 Sweet Onion (finely diced)
- 1 pound Ground Beef (450 g, 96/4)
- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) Salt
- 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) Black Pepper
- 8 oz Pasta Shells (225 g)
- 2 1/2 cups Beef Broth (590 ml)
- 3 Tablespoons (45 ml) Worcestershire Sauce
- 1/4 cup (60 ml) Tomato Ketchup
- 3 Tablespoons (45 ml) Yellow Mustard
- 2 Tablespoons (30 ml) Light Mayo
- 2 Tablespoons (30 ml) Diced Pickled Jalapeño or Relish
- 6 oz Shredded Colby Jack or Cheddar Cheese (170 g, divided)
Instructions
- Combine the ingredients for the burger sauce and set it aside. Preheat your oven’s broiler.
- Place the diced bacon in a cold skillet and cook over medium-high heat. Once it is done, remove it and let it drain on a paper towel. Add the chopped onion to the bacon drippings in the pan.
- Sauté the onions, stirring, until they become translucent, about 2-3 minutes.
- Move the onions to one side of the skillet and brown the ground beef on the other side. Sprinkle with salt and pepper, crumble the beef, and mix it with the onions until fully cooked.
- After the beef is cooked, pour in the broth and Worcestershire sauce. Combine everything well before adding the pasta shells.
- Let everything cook for 6 minutes until the pasta is nearly al dente, then turn off the heat. Mix in the burger sauce and 4 oz of cheese. Stir thoroughly, then sprinkle with the cooked bacon and the remaining 2 oz of cheese. Broil for 3-5 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and melted.
Notes
- Try turkey bacon for a healthier twist on the recipe.
- Use ground turkey instead of ground beef for a lighter version.
- Experiment with mozzarella or pepper jack cheese for a unique taste.
