Description

Delightful sugar cookies shaped with cheerful baby-themed designs, perfect for celebrating baby showers.

Ingredients

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • Royal icing for decoration
  • Food coloring (optional)
  • Sprinkles (for decoration)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, and baking soda until well combined.
  3. In another bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the egg, followed by the vanilla and almond extracts.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until fully combined.
  6. Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to about 1/4 inch thick.
  7. Use cookie cutters to cut the dough into baby-themed shapes.
  8. Place the cookies on lined baking sheets and bake for 8-10 minutes or until the edges turn lightly golden.
  9. Allow the cookies to cool completely on wire racks before decorating.
  10. Use royal icing for decoration and add food coloring and sprinkles for extra flair.

Notes

Chill the dough if too soft; use flour on cookie cutters to prevent sticking. For best results, monitor baking to avoid over or undercooking.
