Description

A delightful twist on classic French toast, these Apple Pecan cups are infused with cinnamon and nutmeg, featuring a crunchy topping of pecans and a touch of sweetness from apples.


Ingredients

  • 1 slice of thick-cut bread (like brioche or challah)
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 apple (diced)
  • 2 tablespoons pecans (chopped)
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon butter (for greasing the muffin tin)
  • Maple syrup (for serving)


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Whisk together the milk, egg, cinnamon, and nutmeg until well combined.
  3. Tear or cut the bread into small pieces and add it to the mixture, allowing it to soak for a few minutes.
  4. Fold in the diced apple, chopped pecans, and brown sugar carefully.
  5. Grease a muffin tin with butter and spoon the mixture into the cups, filling them about 3/4 full.
  6. Bake for 15-20 minutes, until golden brown and set.

Notes

For a sweeter treat, increase the brown sugar slightly. These cups can be prepared the night before for a quicker morning prep.
