Ingredients

  • – 1 cup all-purpose flour (120 g)
  • – 1 cup granulated sugar (200 g)
  • – 2 teaspoons baking powder (10 g)

  • – 180 ml milk (3/4 cup)
  • – 5 tablespoons butter, melted (70 g)
  • – ground cinnamon for topping


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F and apply a light coat of cooking spray to a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Combine the brown sugar, apple juice, cornstarch, lemon juice, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt in a saucepan. Add the apple slices and cook over medium heat, stirring for 3-5 minutes.
  3. Transfer the apple mixture into the greased baking dish.
  4. In another bowl, blend the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt. Gently mix in the milk and melted butter until just combined.
  5. Pour this batter over the apples in the dish. Lightly dust with cinnamon.
  6. Bake for approximately 38-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the topping comes out clean.
  7. Let it cool for at least 15 minutes prior to serving. Enjoy warm, optionally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
