Ingredients

  • 250 g (1 cup) softened butter
  • 150 g (3/4 cup) sugar
  • 10 g (2 tsp) vanilla sugar
  • 5 eggs
  • 50 ml (1/4 cup) milk
  • 400 g (3 1/4 cups) flour
  • 1 pack of baking powder
  • 1 kg (about 4 cups) of apples
  • 2 tbsp (30 ml) lemon juice
  • Some lemon zest
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 2 tbsp (30 ml) sugar
  • 1 tbsp (15 ml) cinnamon
  • icing sugar


Instructions

  1. Set your oven to 180°C for top and bottom heating.
  2. Place baking paper on a deep baking sheet.
  3. Remove the peel, halve, remove the core, and cut the apples into quarters. Make shallow cuts on their surfaces with a knife.
  4. Pour lemon juice over the apples.
  5. Use a grater to remove some zest from a lemon.
  6. Blend the softened butter with sugar and vanilla sugar until creamy.
  7. Incorporate the eggs one by one, mixing each for around a minute.
  8. Combine milk, flour, salt, lemon zest, and baking powder into the mixture and stir well.
  9. Evenly spread the batter over the prepared baking sheet and arrange the apples on top, pressing them gently into the mixture.
  10. Mix cinnamon with sugar and sprinkle over the apples.
  11. Bake the dessert for approximately 45 minutes.
  12. Allow to cool, then dust with icing sugar before serving. Enjoy!

Notes

  • For a stronger lemon flavor, increase the amount of lemon zest in the batter or sprinkle it on top of the apples before baking.
