Ingredients
- 1 cup sugar (200g)
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil, melted (113g)
- 1 egg
- 3 medium apples – peeled, cored and thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (65g)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour (120g)
- 1/4 teaspoon (1 ml) salt
- 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) baking soda
- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) ground cinnamon
Instructions
- Set your oven to 350°F (175°C) to warm up and lightly coat a 9×9-inch baking pan with oil or butter.
- In a large bowl, combine the sugar, melted oil, and egg using an electric mixer until the mixture becomes light and airy.
- Gently mix in the sliced apples and chopped walnuts.
- In another bowl, combine the flour, salt, baking powder, baking soda, and cinnamon, then gradually incorporate this into the apple mixture until just combined.
- Pour the prepared batter into the greased baking pan, spreading it out evenly.
- Place in the oven and bake until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, approximately 35 minutes.
