Description

A comforting dish made with ground beef, onions, and a creamy sauce, perfect for family dinners.

Ingredients

  • 1.5 pounds ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • Mashed potatoes, for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Combine the ground beef, chopped onion, salt, pepper, and garlic powder in a large bowl. Mix well.
  3. Form the mixture into 6-8 oval-shaped patties.
  4. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and brown the hamburger steaks on both sides, then remove from the skillet.
  5. Whisk in 1/4 cup of all-purpose flour until smooth in the same skillet.
  6. Gradually add beef broth and milk, whisking constantly until thickened.
  7. Mix in the sour cream and melted butter, then remove from heat.
  8. Arrange the browned hamburger steaks in a baking dish and pour the creamy sauce over them.
  9. Bake for 20-25 minutes, until the sauce bubbles and the steaks are cooked through.
  10. Serve hot, optionally on a bed of mashed potatoes.

Notes

Chill the meat mixture for better patty shape and adjust seasonings to your taste.
