A comforting dish made with ground beef, onions, and a creamy sauce, perfect for family dinners.
Ingredients
- 1.5 pounds ground beef
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- Mashed potatoes, for serving (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Combine the ground beef, chopped onion, salt, pepper, and garlic powder in a large bowl. Mix well.
- Form the mixture into 6-8 oval-shaped patties.
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and brown the hamburger steaks on both sides, then remove from the skillet.
- Whisk in 1/4 cup of all-purpose flour until smooth in the same skillet.
- Gradually add beef broth and milk, whisking constantly until thickened.
- Mix in the sour cream and melted butter, then remove from heat.
- Arrange the browned hamburger steaks in a baking dish and pour the creamy sauce over them.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, until the sauce bubbles and the steaks are cooked through.
- Serve hot, optionally on a bed of mashed potatoes.
Notes
Chill the meat mixture for better patty shape and adjust seasonings to your taste.
