A delightful homemade bread blending apples with cinnamon and vanilla, perfect for sharing warmth and sweetness with loved ones.
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 cups diced apples (about 2 medium apples, peeled)
- 1/2 cup brown sugar (for filling)
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon (for filling)
- 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
- 2 tablespoons milk (for glaze)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5 inch loaf pan.
- In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
- In another bowl, combine the melted butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and milk.
- Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
- Fold in the diced apples.
- In a small bowl, combine brown sugar and cinnamon for the filling.
- Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan and sprinkle with half of the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
- Pour the remaining batter on top, then sprinkle with the remaining cinnamon-sugar mixture.
- Use a knife to swirl the mixture slightly.
- Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Allow to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then remove to a wire rack to cool completely.
- For the glaze, mix powdered sugar and milk until smooth, then drizzle over the cooled bread.
Notes
Choose firm, sweet apples like Honeycrisp or Granny Smith for optimal flavor. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to five days.
