Ingredients
- 454 g thinly sliced beef (such as sirloin steak, round steak)
- 120 ml Worcestershire sauce
- 120 ml soy sauce
- 15 ml honey
- 1 tsp (5 ml) onion powder
- 1/2 tsp (3 ml) chili flakes (optional, adjust for desired spice level)
Instructions
- Combine the Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, honey, onion powder, and chili flakes in a mixing bowl.
- Slice the beef into either strips or squares. Submerge the beef pieces in the marinade, ensuring they are thoroughly coated.
- Cover the mixture and refrigerate for at least three hours or overnight.
- Take the beef out of the marinade and blot with paper towels to dry.
- Arrange the beef pieces in a single layer in the air fryer basket, making sure they don’t overlap.
- Set the air fryer to 175°F/80°C and cook the beef for two hours until it is fully dehydrated. Check the jerky, and if it’s not completely dry, continue air frying in 15-20 minute increments until it reaches 160°F/71°C.
- Once the jerky is done, let it cool down and then store it in an airtight container.
Notes
- For a sweeter taste, increase the amount of honey in the marinade.
- Enhance the savory flavor by adding a dash of fish sauce to the marinade.
- Achieve a smoky taste by sprinkling smoked paprika on the beef before air frying.
